This and That: Events, Parties, and Things To Do in NYC in October 2026 (with Free Events!)
October isn’t just for Halloween (but we’ve got plenty of that!). October in New York brings black-tie galas with Casita Maria, Icelandic feasts, Champagne-fueled parties, rooftop Halloween transformations at the Moxy Times Square, and one of the city’s wildest annual traditions. Here are the exhibitions, dinners, parties, performances, and other events worth knowing about in October 2026.
Magic Hour’s Dark Magic Hour Halloween Rooftop
What’s happening: Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge atop the Moxy Times Square is transforming into Dark Magic Hour, a Halloween takeover built around a spell-gone-wrong fantasy of wishes, secrets, and dark magic. The seasonal installation brings the rooftop’s characteristically theatrical approach to decorating into Halloween, with themed cocktails, food, and a special dessert accompanying the transformation.
Why go: Magic Hour is a perennial favorite of The Interior Review precisely because it commits so completely to its seasonal transformations, and Halloween may be the ideal reason to return. This time, the rooftop revolves around making a wish and watching the spell unfold, with haunting cocktails and spooky bites extending the theme to the menu. The centerpiece is the Wishing Willow, a decadent dessert created specifically for the takeover. Come make a wish. Just be careful what you wish for.
What’s involved: Halloween installation, cocktails, food, and dessert.
Now through the entire month of October at Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge, Moxy Times Square, 485 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10018. Information and reservations here.
VOESH Brings K-Beauty Body Care to Haus of K
What’s happening: Body-care brand VOESH has taken over a space at Haus of K, Downtown Brooklyn’s K-Beauty and Korean culture destination, for a limited fall residency. The female-founded, AAPI-owned brand approaches body care with ingredients and formats more commonly associated with facial skincare, including its proprietary Baechu Biome Complex derived from fermented Korean Napa cabbage. The pop-up brings VOESH’s Signature Collection into a physical setting for product testing and shopping.
Why go: This is primarily an opportunity to try before buying, particularly some of VOESH products. Visitors can test Tone’d and Smooth’d Massage Roller Crèmes, which combine topical body care with built-in massage rollers, alongside the Gua Sha Body Cleansing Bar, Body Buffing Bar, Milky Body Serum, and Milky Body Serum Mist. The more conventional side of the collection includes glycolic body wash, sugar scrub, hand balm, and firming body balm in scents including Hinoki & Cedar, Fig & Amber, Black Tea & Rosé, and Bergamot & Neroli. There is also a chance to win free samples, while a selection of products can be purchased on site.
What’s involved: Product testing, samples, and shopping.
Now through Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Haus of K, 345 Adams St, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Information here.
Taste of Iceland Brings an Icelandic Feast to Pier 57
What’s happening: As part of the 3-day Taste of Iceland extravaganza, the organization is bringing three Icelandic chefs to the James Beard Foundation’s Platform for a communal dinner exploring the country’s cooking through ingredients from its land and sea. Hugi Stefánsson, head chef at Reykjavík’s Black Sand Hotel; Þórir Erlingsson, president of the Icelandic Chefs Association; and Hafliði Halldórsson, Certified Master Chef and CEO of Icelandic Lamb, have created a multi-course menu centered on Icelandic seafood, meat, dairy, and produce.
Why go: The menu begins with a Himbrimi Gin welcome cocktail before moving through scallop sashimi with strawberry-umeboshi and lime cream, crumpet bread with Icelandic Feykir cheese, prosciutto, and truffle honey, and slow-cooked Arctic char with dill and cucumber.

Yoga Joint Brings a DJ-Powered FIIT Workout to Domino Park
What’s happening: Ahead of opening its first Williamsburg studio later this fall, Florida-based Yoga Joint is introducing itself to Brooklyn with a free outdoor edition of FIIT, its 45-minute full-body conditioning class, on Domino Park’s Flex Field. The format combines cardio and strength training using weights and bands, with this waterfront edition trading the brand’s usual infrared-heated studio for a live DJ.
Why go: The workout is only the beginning. Afterwards, Pura Vida is providing bites, Partners Coffee is handling coffee, and WTHN will host wellness activations. Attendees also leave with a complimentary Yoga Joint tote filled with brand goodies. It is a fairly generous preview of a fitness studio that New Yorkers will soon be able to visit indoors, and the setting helps: Flex Field sits directly on the Williamsburg waterfront.
What’s involved: FIIT workout, live DJ, food, coffee, wellness activations, and giveaways.
Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 10:00 AM onward at Flex Field at Domino Park, 15 River Street, Brooklyn, NY 11249. Free with registration. Registration here.
Casita Maria Fiesta! 2026 Gala at The Plaza
What’s happening: Founded in East Harlem in 1934 and now based in the South Bronx, Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education has spent more than ninety years providing arts, education, and cultural programming to children, young people, and families. Its annual Fiesta! gala supports that work, with HRH Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, Jacqueline Weld Drake, and Jean Shafiroff hosting this year’s benefit. Artists Hunt Slonem and Sonia Gutt de Haime will be honored, while Casita Maria Vice Chair Ben Rodriguez-Cubeñas receives the Jackie Weld Drake Living Legend Award.
Why go: Fiesta! has some serious New York social history. Past honorees include Audrey Hepburn, Gloria Estefan, Rita Moreno, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Roberto Cavalli, Agnes Gund, Adrienne Arsht, Paloma Picasso, and Baz Luhrmann. The evening itself is deliberately light on speeches and heavy on dancing, with a candlelit cocktail reception, seated dinner, live auction, and music by Bob Hardwick Sound.
What’s involved: Cocktails, dinner, live auction, awards, and dancing.
Dress code: Black tie.
Monday, October 5, 2026 from 7:30 PM onward at The Plaza, 768 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10019. Tickets from $1,500, with $750 Pachanga tickets available for patrons under 40. Information and tickets here.
The Noguchi Museum Honors Danh Vo and Yohji Yamamoto
What’s happening: The Noguchi Museum’s annual benefit returns with the thirteenth presentation of the Isamu Noguchi Award, recognizing artist Danh Vo and fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto. Established in 2014, the award recognizes figures across disciplines whose work reflects Isamu Noguchi’s experimental, cross-cultural approach to creativity. Previous recipients have ranged from Tadao Ando and Rei Kawakubo to Naoto Fukasawa and Hiroshi Sugimoto. Proceeds from the benefit support the Museum’s exhibitions, research, programming, and care of its collection.
Why go: There are few more appropriate places to consider Noguchi’s influence than the museum he created himself. Opened in 1985, it occupies a converted industrial building and sculpture garden in Long Island City and holds the world’s largest collection of his work. Vo and Yamamoto also make for an interesting pairing: contemporary art and fashion are two different routes into the kind of boundary-crossing practice the award was created to recognize. The benefit traditionally makes unusually atmospheric use of the museum itself, with previous editions holding cocktails and the award ceremony in the Sculpture Garden before moving upstairs for dinner among the galleries.
What’s involved: Cocktails, award presentation, and dinner.
Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from 6:30 PM onward at The Noguchi Museum, 9-01 33rd Road at Vernon Boulevard, Long Island City, NY 11106. Benefit proceeds support the Museum’s exhibitions, research, programming, and collection. Information and tickets here.
New York Champagne Week Opens with Champagne EPC
What’s happening: The thirteenth annual New York Champagne Week begins with its Lucky 13 VIP Opening Party, kicking off five days of Champagne-focused dinners, tastings, parties, and events across the city. The opening fête features Champagne EPC as the French producer marks its first year in the United States. The week continues with Atelier Champagne on Tuesday, Woman Crush Wednesday, the Penthouse Pearl Party on Thursday, and a Champagne Day Boat Bash on Friday.
Why go: Guests start at the Meunier Magic Bar with EPC’s flagship Brut before tasting through the house’s range, including Blanc de Blancs, rosé, and Blanc de Noirs, accompanied by passed bites created to pair with each cuvée. Between pours, there is a tarot table, wheel of fortune, and photo props, while guests leave with mini bottles of Champagne EPC and Stölzle Lausitz New York Champagne Week glassware.
What’s involved: Champagne tasting, passed bites, tarot, games, and take-home gifts.
Monday, October 19, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at OBVIO Cocktail Bar, 3 East 28th Street, New York, NY 10016. Tickets are $200. Information and tickets here.
FREE EVENT: 53rd Annual Village Halloween Parade
What’s happening: New York City’s Village Halloween Parade returns for its 53rd year, sending thousands of costumed New Yorkers, dancers, musicians, artists, and hundreds of giant puppets up Sixth Avenue on Halloween night. This year’s theme, Body & Soul, considers the relationship between our physical and increasingly digital lives, with the parade’s traditional dancing skeletons serving as the starting point. Downtown performance artist Joey Arias serves as Grand Marshal, while official puppetmakers Processional Arts Workshop lead the procession with luminous spirits and skeletons.
Why go: Few New York traditions are as genuinely participatory. Anyone in costume can join the procession for free, walking up Sixth Avenue alongside more than 50 bands, dancers, artists, puppets, and tens of thousands of other costumed participants. This year brings a new opening spectacle, Firehorse, featuring dancing horse puppets created by MacArthur Fellow Basil Twist and choreography by performance artist Julie Atlas Muz. Watching from the sidelines is also free, while ticketed options offer skip-the-line entry for marchers and dedicated standing or seated viewing areas.
What’s involved: Costumes, giant puppets, live music, dancing, and performance.
Saturday, October 31, 2026 from 7:00 PM along Sixth Avenue from Canal Street to 15th Street. Free to watch or join in costume; marcher lineup runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Sixth Avenue and Canal Street. Skip-the-line marcher tickets are $125, with VIP viewing from $250. Rain or shine. Information and tickets here.
