Review: Aviator Business Lounge at Copenhagen Airport (CPH): Is This the Healthiest Lounge in the World?

Coming off a comprehensive renovation, Copenhagen Airport’s Danske Bank Aviator Business Lounge leans heavily into Scandinavian design and regional selection of food and drink. Dan Latif brings us behind the velvet rope to explore how quiet, comfort, and genuinely nourishing food is reshaping the layover experience.

Highs: A comfortable, cozy space with Scandinavian design, where you can relax or work. The food offering evolves and changes regularly, with a strong focus on particularly healthy choices.

Lows: The lounge has relatively limited opening hours. operating from 5:00 AM to 8:30 PM on weekdays and Sundays, and closing slightly earlier at 8:00 PM on Saturdays.

Verdict: Choosing a lounge before a flight is the best way to eat well, rest, and enjoy a moment of calm, away from the constant hustle and noise of busy airports. The flat entry fee is particularly attractive, especially compared to the surrounding shops and restaurants, where costs are noticeably high.

Reopening after a comprehensive renovation which took place less than a year ago, The Danske Bank Aviator Business Lounge is the result of a partnership between Aviator, a full-service provider of airport logistics and operations, and Danske Bank, the largest bank in Denmark.

The Lounge is located in Copenhagen’s Airport, Københavns Lufthavn, near B gates. The airport itself is situated about eight kilometers or 15 minutes from the city center.

The lounge is accessed after security check between A and B gates, above O'Learys Bar & Restaurant, an American-themed bar which itself was inspired by Irish pub culture. Access to the Aviator Business Lounge is free for those with Gold or Platinum status with Sky Team alliance, which includes KLM and Air France.

Can I buy a day pass for the Air France Lounge at JFK?

Yes. At the time of writing, a day pass (single entrance) is priced at 289kr, or around $45.00. It can be purchased on-site.

Aviator tapped a mix of Danish and international brands to execute the renovation, including Muuto for metal and fixtures, Andersen Furniture for woodcraft and +Halle for modular seating, along with work from VITRA. The lounge also features locally sourced art.

The Aviator Business Lounge impresses with its seating: proper armchairs, worthy of a private living room, with head support, armrests and a recline that invites you to stay for hours. Each seat comes with its own side table for a glass or plate, thoughtfully positioned power outlets, and even a personal reading lamp. It feels unmistakably domestic.

Silence is another luxury here. There are no boarding announcements, lending the space a rare sense of calm, though it does mean keeping a regular eye on the departure screens. Views open onto the retail area and the arrivals corridor, while two large screens broadcast sports channels showing handball, football and golf.

Designed as a true living lounge, the space unfolds into several distinct zones: areas for rest, individual work on low or high tables, and even a long communal table ideal for group work. This level of spatial flexibility is unique, transforming waiting time into a genuinely pleasant interlude.

Food and Drink in the Aviator Business Lounge at Copenhagen Airport (CPH)

We’ve seen many airport lounges. But rarely has a space pushed the idea of well-being as far as the Aviator Business Lounge in Copenhagen. Here, the promise goes beyond comfort and calm — it begins, quite deliberately, on the plate.

Rustic and hearty, the buffet immediately sets the tone. Curried herring, hummus, dark rye bread, capers, red cabbage, artichokes: a selection that is both distinctly Nordic and unapologetically healthy.

Wraps filled with cottage cheese, pesto and spinach sit alongside fresh pineapple, pasta salad, crunchy salads, red cabbage slaw, and even flæskesteg, a confident nod to Danish tradition.

What is flæskesteg?

Considered to be one of Denmarks national dishes, flæskesteg is a traditional Danish pork roast, usually made from pork belly or pork loin, cooked with the rind left on so it turns into crisp crackling.

The cheese selection evolves weekly: brie, fourme d’Ambert, blue cheese, classic gouda or cumin-infused gouda. To accompany it all, dark rye bread, crispy rice cakes, or crispbread in the style of Wasa. The result is striking; plates that are colorful, generous, visually appealing, and above all among the healthiest one can find in an airport lounge.

A simple tomato soup completes the offering, comforting and restrained, while the buffet as a whole manages to balance aesthetics, freshness and nutritional coherence.

The drinks selection champions Danish classics. Carlsberg beer is served on tap in its classic version, alongside the Yakima IPA. A more refined option comes from Jacobsen, as well as the iconic Christmas brew Julebryg from Tuborg. A Carlsberg Nordic Pilsner 0.0% caters to those opting for alcohol-free refreshment.

The bar also reveals a few surprises: Harlegin rhubarb gin, beautifully balanced with tangy sweetness and aromatic notes, ideal with tonic or soda; a coffee liqueur from Råstoff, made from Arabica beans; and, unexpectedly, a bottle of Casoni sambuca, a seed- and anise-based liqueur rarely seen in airport lounges.
